Did you know that the Saskatchewan Industry Labour Demand Outlook states: “A total of 135,800 job openings are forecasted over the five-year period, 2022 to 2026 inclusive. Of these, 62,800 (46% of total job openings) are due to economic growth (aka expansion demand) and 73,000 (54% of total) are due to retirements and death (aka replacement demand).”
Though all these future job openings are not solely in the mechanical trades, this does indicate the importance of training. Courses that MCAS provide are invaluable to the workplace. They are job specific programs that teach your employees consistent skills, so regardless of who attends a class, the main course principals being taught will remain the same.
Training can also be the advantage needed to promote your company and employees. Employees who are trained well, are more efficient at their jobs, have greater job satisfaction and more likely to be aware of hazards that can occur on the jobsite. Employers on the other hand, need to have skilled workers who are dependable, educated and engaged. People they can trust to maintain efficiency, company standards and productivity. And who doesn’t like skilled, safe employees?
MCAS is always looking for training opportunities that are pertinent to the mechanical trades. Our Education Committee meets through out the year to discuss the trends being seen in the industry. This year there has been an increase in the discussion of net zero, energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions topics. We will be looking at training opportunities in these areas.
MCAS is proud to offer training in Cross Connections Control, A/C Theory and Lab, Hydronics, HVAC Levels 1 & 2, Medical Gas Installation, as well as the Ozone Layer Protection Awareness Training. As contractor members, we provide you with advance notice of all courses we offer, the option of early registration and significant savings on the registration fees.
Our affiliate members are offered assistance with coordination of their company’s in-person training event, webinar or Lunch and Learn session. This is a wonderful opportunity to network with people who have registered to attend your sessions.
