President’s Message

April 9, 2025

Greetings fellow MCA Saskatchewan members,

On behalf of the MCA Saskatchewan Board of Directors and staff I wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a happy non-denominational politically correct holiday season. The last year and a half have been challenging to our industry but there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. All projections indicate we are in for a very busy 2022 and 2023.

While there are still challenges on our horizon such as labour shortages there are some very positive events coming as well. TSASK appears to have made the incorporation of gas and electrical permits and licensing with a minimum of disruption and appears to have met many of the criteria that MCAS has asked for. Thank you to all the government and TSASK organizations for a job well done. As they take over plumbing from SHA in the new year, we look forward to an even better system of permitting for our members.

Prompt Payment Legislation is due to take effect in March of 2022 which will (we hope) vastly improve payments in our industry and improve our cash flows with payment certainty. There will be upcoming training and seminars on what the new legislation means to our members and how to navigate the transition. Stay tuned.

MCA Saskatchewan continues to advocate on our members behalf with all levels of government as issues arise and we are being proactive on new initiatives for the betterment of our industry. Technical training continues at a breakneck pace, and we always welcome feedback on how to make things better.

I sincerely hope all our members have a wonderful holiday season and take time to appreciate our family and friends and wish everyone a prosperous, profitable, and wonderful new year

Ah, screw Political Correctness! Merry Christmas!!

Ken Swann
